Launch of the Natural Capital Protocol.

The Natural Capital Coalition is launching a ‘Protocol Application Program’ on July 13 in London to support businesses as they apply the Natural Capital Protocol and sector guides.

The Protocol provides a standardized framework for business to identify, measure and value their impacts and dependencies on natural capital.

The Paris Agreement on Climate Change is a legal instrument adopted under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The Paris Agreement recognizes climate change as a ‘common concern for mankind’ and urges parties (countries) to be cognizant of gender equality, women empowerment, indigenous peoples, the most vulnerable, persons with disability and inter-generational equity.

Green champions workshop report

The African Centre for Technology Studies, Die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) - the German Corporation for International Cooperation, National Treasury (Kenya) and the Greening Kenya Initiative (GKI) organised a one day workshop on green economy at the Laico Regency Hotel in Nairobi on 17th November 2015.

Africa Sustainability Hub (ASH) Launch

A new African sustainability research hub will make a “huge contribution” to promoting low carbon economic development in Kenya, according to a speech on Wednesday by Hon. Henry Rotich, Cabinet Secretary of the National Treasury. The speech was delivered by Prof Judi Wakhungu, Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Water and Natural Resources, at a workshop on Low Carbon Development in Africa held in Nairobi, Kenya.

ACTS at Day 3 of COP 21, December 2nd, 2015

As negotiations entered their third day at COP, ACTS researchers participated in two high-level side-events on December 2nd, 2015. ACTS Executive Director, Dr. Cosmas Ochieng moderated a side event entitled, “Scaling Up Adaptation Action: Opportunities for Knowledge,” while ACTS Research Fellow Winnie Khaemba spoke at an event entitled, “Ecosystem Based Adaptation in Dryland Ecosystems.”
