The Lab for Ethics, Policy and Scaling of AI (LEPSAI), of the African Center for Technology Studies (ACTS), with funding from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has established a scholarship programme to strengthen AI and Machine Learning (ML) research capacity in sub-Saharan Africa, with a deliberate focus on women, who are significantly underrepresented in technology research landscape.
The scholarship program focuses on two categories of women researchers: registered PhD students already engaged in AI/ML research, and Early Career Academics (ECAs) who had recently completed their doctoral studies.
