Mourine Chepkemoi

Mourine Chepkemoi Cheruiyot is a Research Fellow at the African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS) and the manager of the AfricaLics Visiting Fellows Programme (VFP). My primary responsibilities at ACTS are to support projects within the Science, Technology, and Innovation for Knowledge and Society (STIKS) and Climate Resilient Economies (CRE) programs. With over eight years of experience in grantmaking and program development, including program design, coordination, work planning and budgeting, monitoring and evaluation, performance management, and reporting. I’ve improved my skills in a wide range of areas, including stakeholder engagement, knowledge systems, knowledge transfer, science technology and innovation and policy evaluation, sustainable financing models, modern energy-efficient appliances, capacity building, and knowledge exchange. 

I have extensive experience promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in Africa, with a particular emphasis on long-term solutions tailored to local contexts. I’ve been actively involved in advancing clean energy initiatives, particularly in the clean cooking sector, and am interested in connecting these initiatives to larger sustainability goals. I am passionate about fostering collaborative partnerships that connect research, policy, and practice, and I am committed to using science and innovation to address pressing societal challenges while driving economic development throughout Africa. Academically, I hold a masters degree in International Business from the Kenya Methodist University.
