ACTS is pleased to announce its partnership with Lacuna Fund as a regional hub supporting the Antimicrobial Resistance track for its 2024 Calls for Proposals. ACTS, together with Centro Nacional de Inteligencia Artificial (CENIA), have been selected to serve as the first two regional hubs in line with Lacuna Fund’s Guiding Principles of equity and participatory approach, and as part of its strategy to share leadership with institutions in the regions.
Lacuna Fund is the world’s first collaborative effort to provide data scientists, researchers, and social entrepreneurs in low- and middle-income contexts globally with the resources they need to produce labeled datasets that address urgent problems in their communities. In 2024, Lacuna Fund seeks proposals to develop open and accessible machine learning (ML) datasets in two domains: Language (Natural Language Processing) and Health (Antimicrobial Resistance). These two calls are funded by Google.org (Language) and Wellcome Trust (Health).
Visit Lacuna Fund’s Apply page to learn more and submit a proposal. The deadline for proposal submissions is August 23, 2024. You can Apply in French, Spanish, or Portuguese on the Lacuna Fund website.
ACTS and CENIA will manage regional and global grantmaking, disseminating requests for proposals and resulting datasets, facilitating Technical Advisory Panel review and selection, and providing technical assistance and capacity building to grantees.
