Capacity Building

The following complementary activities will be provided to capacity build the beneficiaries of the scholarships (PhD and MSc students, ECA, Supervisors and Interns).
  1. Five short courses will be designed and delivered online yearly
  2. Atleast one PhD Academies will be organized in year 2
  3. Quarterly Seminars will be organized by of each of the participating universities.
  4. Annual workshops will be organized within each of the participating universities.
  5. Sub regional conference: Two sub-regional workshops will be organized in year 2, one in English speaking and another in French speaking countries.
  6. Regional conference: One regional conference will be organized in year 3
  7. Online Training of supervisors: Three online training of supervisors will take place annually.
  8. Face-to-face training of supervisors and experience sharing will take place in year 2 and 3
  9. PhD Students Mentoring: Each PhD students will be assigned a mentor to support them.

The funds will be disbursed as follows;

  1. Tuition fees - to be disbursed annually to the university’s finance department.
  2. Research expenses - to be disbursed quarterly based on individual student’s work plan and progress
  3. Training and capacity building - to be disbursed as per the overall work plan
  4. Travel costs - to be disbursed quarterly to beneficiaries and supervisors
  5. Infrastructure costs - to be disbursed based on mutually agreed mode between ACTS and beneficiary University
