ACTS CHANGE IN LEADERSHIP
The Governing Council of ACTS has appointed one of its members, Mr. Kennedy Orwa, as the interim Executive Director of ACTS, effective 1st August 2017. This follows the departure of Dr Cosmas Ochieng, the former Executive Director, who has moved on to pursue other interests.
Kennedy has served in the Governing Council of ACTS for four years and brings on board a wealth of experiences in governance, institutional management, as well as programme development.
As the Executive Director of Environment Liaison Centre International (ELCI), a membership international Non-governmental organization based in Nairobi, Kennedy has provided strong leadership towards strengthening the engagements of civil society in national and international environmental governance.
He has past programme experiences in ecosystem approaches to fisheries management, renewable and energy efficient technology, land governance, and sustainable agriculture. Kennedy has been overseeing ELCI’s delivery in three programme areas, thus Agriculture and Food Security, Climate Change and Energy; and Biodiversity and Natural Resource Management.
Kennedy has greatly expanded and sustained the profile of ELCI’s engagements in these areas, putting ELCI on a path to become a strong leader in these programme areas.
Kennedy holds a degree in Communications from Daystar University and a Certificate in Institutional Management and Business Planning (International), from Plymouth University, United Kingdom).
